Board of Management

Westway Housing Association is run by a Board of Management. The Board currently consists of eight members elected by our shareholders, plus two co-opted members. Two Board members are tenant representatives.

The Board meets quarterly to consider our overall strategy and future development. It oversees the allocation of our financial resources, and approves our acquisitions and disposals, major investments, annual budgets, treasury policy, risk management strategy and senior executive appointments. It also provides high-level performance monitoring via a balanced scorecard report.

In addition, a newly formed Scrutiny Committee was created to focus on our service delivery to customers. The Scrutiny Committee consists of four members of the Board. The Scrutiny Committee also works with the Tenant Forum.

Our members

David Mark (Chairman)

David Mark is Managing Director of DM Consultancy. He is an experienced Local Government Executive and has worked for various Local Authorities and Housing Asssociation. MRICS,MCIOH,MICM,FCIBO. He joined the Board in 1987.

Bevin Betton (Vice-Chairman)

Bevin is Head of Human Resources at Ascham Homes, which manages housing stock for the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Bevin's academic background includes employment law and industrial relations. He joined the Board in 1996.

Dennis Flanders (Secretary)

Dennis Flanders is a self-employed legal consultant, specialising in immigration issues. He is also a qualified social worker and further education teacher. He joined the Board in 1996.

Anthony Noel

Anthony Noel is a self-employed procurement Consultant and a diploma member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. He joined the Board in 1993.

Abraham Nomafo

Abraham Nomafo is a qualified solicitor, who is currently a consultant with two legal firms. He is experienced in landlord and tenant matters, board governance and company law. Abraham's previous experience includes 15 years as a social housing manager to director level. Abraham is also Chair of our Scrutiny Committee. He joined the Board in 1995.

Sharon Moses

Sharon Moses is a human resources consultant with over 20years working in the employment field in the Public and Private Sector. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and an employment law specialist. Sharon is also a member of our Scrutiny Committee. She joined the Board in 1994.

Dr Edwin Sawacha MBE

Edwin Sawacha is a highly qualified civil engineer by background, who is currently a project management and construction management advisor. Edwin was awarded an MBE in 2010 for his outstanding contribution to social housing and the community in north-west London. Edwin is also a member of our Scrutiny Committee. He joined the Board in 2007.

Sonia Davis (Tenant Representative)

Sonia Davis is a teaching assistant and Chair of our Tenant Forum. She joined the Board in 2007.

Lucy Knight- Ballard (Tenant Representative)

Lucy Knight-Ballard is a higher-level teaching assistant. She is also a member of the Tenant Forum. She joined the Board in 2011.
